What changed
On September 22, 2026, SatelliteInternet.com and Tesla North both reported that Starlink widened an offer for home customers: a Starlink Mini at no hardware cost (a rental, not a gift) plus a discount on a Roam plan to use with it.
The perk had come back in August. Drive Tesla Canada reported on August 10, 2026 that it was open to Residential Max customers in the US and Canada, with 50% off Roam and the rental fee waived, as long as the Max line stayed active.
The September reports say it now reaches the Residential 100 Mbps and 200 Mbps tiers too, with smaller discounts. SatelliteInternet.com lists these US monthly Roam prices for people on the offer:
| Roam plan | Residential 100 Mbps or 200 Mbps | Residential Max |
|---|---|---|
| Roam 100GB | $44 | $27.50 |
| Roam 300GB | $64 | $40 |
| Roam Unlimited | $140 | $87.50 |
These are reported prices from one outlet, delivered by email to eligible customers. Starlink does not advertise them on its signup pages.
“Starlink is offering customers of its home internet service a more mobile Mini to complement their experience.” (SatelliteInternet.com, Sept 22, 2026)
Who is affected
- Starlink Residential customers who also travel: weekend campers with a home dish, snowbirds, people who visit family in an RV a few times a year.
- Not affected: Roam-only customers with no home Starlink, and full-timers with no fixed address. The offer depends on keeping a Residential line.
What it means for you
For a household that already pays for Starlink at home, this can be the cheapest way to get a travel dish. You keep your home service and add a discounted Roam plan on a separate Mini.
The catch is the link to your home plan. Tesla North reports that if you cancel your Residential plan or change its type, you must return the Mini within 30 days or pay the retail price. The Mini is also a rental, so you don’t own it.
What to do now:
- Check your email and your Starlink account for the offer. If it isn’t there, you can’t request it from the signup page, per the reports.
- Do the math for a full year. The discounted Roam price is only cheaper if you’d otherwise pay for travel internet. Our cost per month guide adds up a year of each plan.
- Read the home-and-away trade-offs in Roam vs Residential for travelers. If you were thinking of dropping home service for Roam alone, see can you use Roam at home? first.
What stays the same
- Regular Roam prices for everyone else are unchanged.
- A Residential plan still can’t be used while moving or away from its address. The Mini rental runs on its own Roam plan.
- In-motion and abroad rules for Roam apply to the rented Mini like any other dish.
How we handled this report
Two outlets reported the expansion on the same day. The discount table comes from SatelliteInternet.com only; Tesla North’s figures appear to be Canadian prices, so we left them out. We logged the change in our rules changelog as a reported hardware offer.

What we don’t know yet
- Who exactly gets the offer. It arrives by email, isn't shown at signup, and availability varies by region.
- Whether the discounted Roam prices are fixed or can change. The reports don't give a term.
- Whether a rented Mini can use Standby Mode. Starlink's pause page excludes 'select kit rentals' from Standby, without naming them.
