How we research and test
Dated facts, named sources, honest labels and a public corrections log.
Updated US only. Not tested on the road by us.
Where facts come from
Every price, data allowance and rule on this site sits in one data file with three things attached: a status, a source and the date we checked it. Pages read from that file; nobody types a price into a sentence.
- From starlink.com: help-center articles and the public order data behind the starlink.com order page. Last full check: Oct 5, 2026. Before launch the owner also opens each page in a browser to confirm the wording.
- Reported: news sites, carriers and retailers, labeled “reported” with their date.
- Unverified: if no source settles something, the page says “unverified”. We never guess a number.
The build fails if any fact is older than 30 days, so stale prices can’t sit on the site unnoticed.
How often we re-check
- Travel rules and prices: every 2 weeks from March to September, monthly the rest of the year.
- Within 48 hours of any announced change. Sources we watch: starlink.com support and legal pages, rvmobileinternet.com, and RV owner forums (r/GoRVing, iRV2, Forest River and Airstream forums).
- Every change goes into the travel-rules changelog the same day.
Owner-run tests
The owner has Starlink Residential at home, not on a rig. So the only tests we run are ones a home connection answers honestly.
Data use per hour of each activity: planned
Router-reported bytes for one hour of each activity on the owner’s Residential connection at home; three runs each; date, device and app version recorded; raw numbers published.
We will not publish “road tests”, photos implying an RV is ours, or invented reader stories. Owner reports from forums are cited, linked and paraphrased.
Corrections
Found an error? Tell us. We fix it, date it, and list it on the corrections page. A page’s “checked” date changes only when its facts were actually re-checked.
