Which travel plan fits your trips?

Quick answer

For most weekend and seasonal campers, Roam 100GB at $55/mo covers it; heavy streamers and remote workers need 300GB at $80/mo or Unlimited at $175/mo. If your trips are short and cell signal is good, a hotspot is cheaper. Answer below to see your own numbers.

Takes about a minute. Nothing you enter leaves this page.

Your trips

All the days you’ll want internet away from home. Ten 3-night weekends is 30. Full-time is 365.
A long trip can fill a whole billing month, so this changes the plan size.
Where you’ll use it
Leaving the US and Canada?Mexico, or shipping the rig overseas. Canada counts as home for US accounts.

Your data use

A typical day on the roadEstimates built from Netflix and Zoom’s own published rates. How we got these.
Do you need it while driving? For passengers, navigation updates or a boat under way. Never for the driver.

Your setup

Internet at home
Starlink kit you already own
Cell signal where you usually goThink of your usual campgrounds and routes, not your home town.
Trees where you camp

Your result shows here. It names one plan (or a hotspot), the yearly cost of every option side by side, and the rules that could bite on your trips.

Prices are US list prices checked $55/mo (checked Oct 5, 2026) and change without notice.

How the picker decides

  1. Your busiest month, not your average. We spread your travel days over the billing months they touch. A long trip can fill a whole month, so the plan is sized to that month, with 10% headroom.
  2. Cellular first, when it really is cheaper. Short trips + good signal + a hotspot plan big enough = cellular, before any satellite plan.
  3. Rules can force a bigger plan. Outside the US and Canada, or past 12 nautical miles, only Roam Unlimited works.
  4. Every option costed for a year. Kit (unless you own one) + months with travel × monthly price. With pausing, the Standby fee for the idle months is added.

Questions people ask

Which Roam plan do I need for my trips?

Work out your busiest month, not your average. Up to about 90 GB in that month fits Roam 100GB ($55/mo as of Oct 5, 2026), up to about 270 GB fits Roam 300GB, and more than that needs Unlimited. Trips abroad or offshore need Unlimited whatever your data use. The picker does this sum for you.

Why does the picker sometimes say cellular?

Because for short trips with good cell signal, a hotspot plan is cheaper and simpler: no dish, no mount, no kit to buy. It only says so when you tell it cell signal is good where you go, your trips are short, you stay on land in the US, and a hotspot plan we have a dated price for covers your data.

Can I pause between trips?

Yes. Standby Mode keeps a slow connection (up to 500 kbps) for a monthly fee, and you can resume any time. Resuming charges the month right away, prorated. Cancelling between trips costs nothing, but you lose the low-speed connection. The cost table shows both.

Does the picker save my answers?

No. It runs in your browser. Your answers live only in this page’s address (so you can share or bookmark the result). We count, without cookies, that a result was shown and which plan it was, nothing else.

How exact is the yearly cost?

It’s an estimate from list prices before tax, using the number of billing months your travel days touch. Real trips don’t line up neatly with billing dates, so add a month if your trips straddle them.
