What changed
RV Mobile Internet reported on May 5, 2026 that Starlink adjusted its Priority plan prices. For US customers:
| Plan part | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Local Priority terminal access fee | $40/mo | $30/mo |
| Local Priority data | $25 for 50GB, or $125 for 500GB | no change |
| Global Priority terminal access fee | $150/mo | no change |
| Global Priority data | $100 for 50GB, or $500 for 500GB | no change |
“The good news for US-based users on a Local Priority plan is that the price is actually going down by $10/month.” (RV Mobile Internet, May 5, 2026)
So the smallest Local Priority setup, the access fee plus a 50GB bucket, went from $65 to $55 a month in the US. That matches the Local Priority 50GB price in our data.
Who is affected
Priority plans are mostly business plans, but some travelers use them:
- Travelers who need more than 30 days abroad. Starlink’s travel page says Local Priority allows up to 60 days of total international use, counting days already used on Roam Unlimited.
- People who want priority data, a public IP address and priority support, which Starlink lists as Priority features.
- Boaters needing open-ocean coverage look at Global Priority, which Starlink says covers land and ocean with no time limit abroad.
What it means for you
For most RVers, Roam is still the simpler plan. Local Priority makes sense when you want priority data on a modest budget and can live with metered GB. At $55 for 50GB, it costs the same as Roam 100GB but gives half the data, at higher priority.
Note the limits. Starlink’s in-motion page says Local Priority covers inland areas, including lakes and rivers, but not coastal or territorial waters. If you boat on the coast, Local Priority is the wrong plan.
What to do now:
- If you winter abroad, read our guide to taking Roam abroad. It explains how Roam Unlimited’s 30 days and Local Priority’s 60 days fit together.
- If you boat offshore, our boats guide compares Roam Unlimited with Ocean Mode, Personal Maritime and Global Priority.
- If you just want “more priority” on land, compare with Roam Unlimited first; it has unlimited data on land.
What stays the same
- Roam prices were not part of this change. (Roam prices rose separately on May 16, 2026.)
- Priority plans still support in-motion use up to 100 mph where allowed.
- Global Priority pricing in the US is unchanged.
How we handled this report
This comes from one dated press report, so we label it reported. We added a row to our rules changelog for it. Our own data lists the combined Local Priority 50GB and Global Priority 50GB prices as read from starlink.com, and they match the report’s math.

What we don’t know yet
- Whether the lower fee applies to existing Local Priority lines from the same date. The report covers the new price, not the switchover date.
- Prices outside the US. The report says other regions changed based on local markets, without listing them.
