Roam 100GB vs 300GB: how many days of travel each covers

Quick answer

Pick by your busiest month. Roam 100GB ($55/mo) covers about a week of typical use; Roam 300GB ($80/mo) covers about three. Same speed, same in-motion rights. Neither works outside the US and Canada.

Bars show days 300GB lasts, out of a 31-day month. A full bar means it lasts the whole month.

Which one to choose

  • Choose 100GB for weekend trips and a week or two away at a time, with streaming kept to an evening show.
  • Choose 300GB if one trip a month runs two weeks or more with nightly streaming, or you work a few days on the road.
  • Choose Unlimited for full-time remote work, a family streaming all day, or any trip to Mexico or overseas. Unlimited explained.

Before you order

  • Count travel days in your busiest month, not your average month.
  • Decide whether you’ll cancel or pause between trips (the cost page shows both).
  • Check that you won’t need it in Mexico: only Unlimited works there.

Who shouldn’t get Starlink for travel

  • Your trips are short and your routes have good cell signal. A cellular hotspot plan is cheaper and simpler. The picker checks this first.
  • You camp mostly under heavy trees and won’t carry a pole. Expect drops. Read campgrounds with trees.
  • The plan you’d need doesn’t fit your budget. Cancel between trips, pick a smaller allowance, or go cellular only. The cost page shows each pattern.
  • You need guaranteed service while driving, for safety or work. Read the in-motion rules first, and never set up or adjust gear while driving.
  • You live outside the US. This site covers US accounts and US prices only.

Questions people ask

How many days does Roam 100GB last?

Starlink itself says “approximately 1 week of typical use”. By our estimates it’s about 14 days of evening HD streaming, or 100 days of email, maps and browsing only. Video calls for work burn it in about 14 days.

Is there still a Roam 50GB plan?

Not for new US customers. Starlink’s US order data lists Roam 100GB, 300GB and Unlimited. Some older accounts may still show 50GB; see the changelog for when it changed.

Are 100GB and 300GB the same speed?

Starlink lists both as “up to 300+ Mbps” and gives one typical range for Roam. The difference is how much high-speed data you get, not how fast it is.

Can I switch between them each month?

Yes. Roam plans can be changed any time. Upgrades can apply at once; downgrades can apply now (no refund) or at your billing date.
