Comparison table of Insty Connect systems as reported July 27, 2026: Explorer, X62 modem, Ethernet, list $799, sale $599; LITE, X55 modem, USB, list $399, sale $349. Window antenna now the default.

What changed

RV Mobile Internet reported on July 27, 2026 that Insty Connect added four things. Insty is a small company that puts the cellular modem inside the antenna housing, so there’s no long, lossy cable run down into the RV.

  • Window antenna. A flat indoor panel that sits at an RV window, with no drilling. Per the report it’s now the default, with roof antennas as an upgrade, and it trades some performance for an easier install.
  • LITE system. A lower-cost unit with an X55 modem and a USB connection, listed at $399 and on sale for $349 at the time. The report says it is meant for basic setups and Starlink backup, and calls it not future-proof. The main Explorer system, with an X62 modem and Ethernet, was listed at $799, on sale for $599.
  • Canada data plan. 30 days of roaming on Canadian networks, with the first 60GB at full speed and then 2 Mbps. The report says it first listed at $89 and the current price isn’t shown. A Mexico plan is “coming soon”.
  • In-router plan store. A screen in the router’s firmware to pick and activate Insty data plans, including switching between T-Mobile and Verizon on eligible plans, without calling support.

Who is affected

  • RVers who want cellular as the main link and Starlink as backup, or the other way around.
  • Renters and owners who don’t want holes in the roof. The window antenna is aimed at them.

What it means for you

This is the kind of cellular link that pairs with a Starlink dish. Our cellular-first setup shows how a router uses cellular where it works and switches to Starlink when it fails, which saves data on a capped Roam plan.

Before you buy any cellular system, compare it with a plain hotspot and a carrier plan in our RV internet options guide. The router guide covers how to wire two links into one Wi-Fi network.

What stays the same

  • Nothing about Starlink plans or prices changes with this.
  • Insty’s existing data plans continue, per the report.

What we don’t know yet

  • How much signal the window antenna gives up compared with a roof antenna. The report says it trades performance for easier install; we have not seen measurements.
  • Current prices. The report lists sale prices and says the Canada plan's price is no longer listed.
  • When the Mexico plan launches. The report says only "coming soon".
