Starlink RV mount options compared

Quick answer

Start with the kickstand on the ground: it’s free and lets you chase open sky. Add a pole when trees get in the way. Bolt a mount to the roof only if you want it while driving or set up daily. Prices for mounts weren’t checked, so we don’t list them.

Where the dish can go, side viewA travel trailer next to a tree. Five positions: on the ground away from the tree, on a tall pole, on the ladder, flat on the roof, and on a truck rack. Starlink asks for a clear view of the whole sky from 20° above the horizon up. Here the tree blocks the roof position on one side; the pole and the ground spot away from the tree stay clear. Drawing not to scale.

  • Boat: a rail or mast mount, high and clear. Boat guide.

Starlink’s own mounts (Standard kit)

  • Mobility Mount: permanent vehicle mount, fixed 8 ° tilt. Starlink recommends a mounting surface of at least 1.5 in (1 in for the Mini version).
  • Roof Rack Mount: the Standard Roof Rack Mount fits rack bars 15–44.5 mm thick and up to 95 mm wide, or compatible T-slots.
  • Pipe Adapter: the Standard Pipe Adapter fits metal poles 1.25 in to 2.5 in across; not plastic or PVC pipe.

Starlink’s shop needs a login, so we couldn’t check mount prices. We’ll add them, dated, once checked.

Questions people ask

What is the best Starlink mount for an RV?

There isn’t one best mount. For most part-timers, the kickstand on the ground plus a pole for tree-covered sites covers it. A fixed roof mount makes sense only if you need it while driving or set up every day.

Can I use a PVC pipe as a pole?

Not with Starlink’s Pipe Adapter: Starlink says it fits metal poles 1.25 in to 2.5 in across, and is not for PVC or plastic pipe.

Which mounts are rated for driving?

Starlink’s Mobility Mount (Standard) and Mini Mobility Mount are its vehicle mounts. Starlink doesn’t publish a wind or speed rating for third-party mounts, and we haven’t tested any.
