What changed
Tesla North reported on October 2, 2026 that a Starlink marketing email offered the Starlink Mini kit for $149, down from the $249 the outlet called the typical price. That is $100 off the hardware. The report says the offer still needs a service plan, and it quotes the email’s own hedge that “price and availability may vary.”
The outlet also wrote that the Mini’s previous low earlier in 2026 was $199. For context, RV Mobile Internet reported in January 2026 that holiday deals had ended and the Mini was back at $299, with the Standard kit at $349. So the Mini’s kit price has moved several times this year.
“At $149 instead of the typical $249 price, the current offer reduces the cost of the kit by $100 before the required service plan is added.” (Tesla North, Oct 2, 2026)
Who is affected
- New buyers who want a small travel dish. The Mini is the dish many van-lifers, weekend campers and overlanders look at first because it is small and runs on 12 to 48 volts DC.
- People choosing between Mini and Standard. A $149 Mini is now well under the Standard kit price in our data. The gap matters most if you only travel a few weeks a year.
- Existing owners: no change. A lower kit price does not refund anyone who already bought one, and your monthly plan price stays the same.
What it means for you
The kit is a one-time cost. The plan is what you pay every month. A $100 saving on the dish is less than two months of the cheapest Roam plan at today’s prices, so the plan still decides most of your yearly cost.
What you can do now:
- Check the price yourself on starlink.com before you order. This is a reported price from an email. We could not confirm how long it lasts.
- Pick the plan first, then the dish. Our cost per month guide shows what each plan adds up to over a year, and Roam 100GB vs 300GB shows how many travel days each data tier lasts.
- Think about mounting and power. A cheaper dish is only a good deal if it fits your rig. Our van life guide covers roof mounts and cable runs for small rigs.
- Don’t let the offer rush you. The Mini’s price has moved both ways in 2026, and we can’t predict the next move. Buy when the whole setup makes sense for your trips.
What stays the same
- The Mini still needs a Roam (or other) plan to work. The kit alone does nothing.
- In-motion rules do not change: Roam plans support use while moving up to 100 mph in authorized places, and Standby Mode is still not meant for use while moving.
- The Mini’s specs (power draw, weight, field of view) are the same hardware as before. Only the price in the email changed.
How we handled this report
The source is a press report about a marketing email, so we label the price reported. Our own data file lists the Mini at $149 as read from starlink.com’s order data, but we have not seen an end date anywhere. If the price changes again, we will update this article’s correction log and the changelog row.

What we don’t know yet
- Whether $149 is a promotion or the new list price. The email said price and availability may vary and gave no end date.
- Whether the same price applies at retailers. The report covers the starlink.com offer only.
- Whether the price depends on which plan you pick. The email did not list plan prices.
